Ohio’s annual sales tax holiday is bigger than ever this year, with 10 days of tax-free shopping starting at midnight on Tuesday July 30th through August 8th. A helpful resource to share with those who are at risk or experiencing homelessness:
Central Access Point (CAP) Helpline (513-381-SAFE)
This line assists community members experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. They can access information about services, check for space in emergency shelters, and be placed into housing programs.
Anyone experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness can call to get information about services. And check for space in shelters and other homeless programs. Trained Intake Specialists determine if the caller needs shelter immediately. Or if a referral to a homelessness prevention program is an option.
Help Stop Panhandling. Cincinnati has a very detailed law controlling panhandling. See how it protects you. Additionally, here is a helpful brochure on how you, your neighbors and your colleagues can make change without providing spare change.

New Affordable Housing Now Available
The Barrister at 214-216 E. Ninth St. has opened as the first affordable housing project in downtown Cincinnati in decades. Over-the-Rhine Community Housing and Urban Sites partnered in the 44-apartment development featuring efficiency and one, two and three bedroom units. Rents range from a low of $400 for some efficiencies to $1,485. Ribbon-cutting for the project was March 7, 2024. A video of the ceremony can be viewed here.
DRC Board Welcomes Tracey Johnson
At the April general meeting, DRC members voted to add Tracey Johnson to the board. A resident of the Convention Center District, Tracey will coordinate all the digital functions for the organization.
Paving the Way
Moving around downtown safely is an issue that a lot of residents are concerned with. If you think a sidewalk is in poor condition and a possible trip hazard, the best way to report the problem is to use the City’s Citizen Service Request options. That includes calling 311, visiting https://cagis.hamilton-co.org/311/, or using the 311Cincy app on a smartphone.
Our Downtown on the Move
Downtown Cincinnati is now home to over 6,000 residents (over 15,000 in the greater market area, which includes OTR, Pendleton and the West End), with more arriving every month as new condos and apartment homes are completed (see Central Business District Map here). The Downtown Residents Council works to develop a community atmosphere, conducts projects to improve the quality of life, and voices concerns of residents at City Hall.
We work closely with the Police Department on safety issues and 3CDC on development and promotion efforts.
Help Us Stop Graffiti! Call it in!
If you see graffiti on a building, sidewalk, rack, etc. in Downtown Cincinnati, please help us get rid of it ASAP. The longer graffiti stays up, the greater the invitation for more. Please contact 3CDC Safe and Clean Manager David Vissman when you see graffiti. David will dispatch a team to photograph it, report it to the police and remove it. David’s number is 8598-866-5224.
