Welcome and Introductions
Conrad called the meeting to order at 6pm. Self-introductions followed.
CPD Update: Sgt Dave D'Amico - Downtown Services Unit
- Crime stats: July 07 to Jul08,
- Pt 1 down 27%
- Pt 2 down as well
- 1 rape case in 08 vs none in 07, no details available
- Upcoming event:
- Oktoberfest
- Macy's lot at 5th & Race will be accessible this year, but Race street is otherwise closed
- 11am to midnight on September 20th
- 11am to 10pm on the 21st
- 500K attendance anticipated

Maris Harold- asking for residents to complete Robin Engel's crime survey from UC. Survey focused on repeat crime and disorder reporting. Handed out surveys, to be collected by Conrad and returned to Maris.
Cincinnati Fire Department
CFD was represented by Captain Mike Kirby from Engine #3 at 9th & Broadway.
October 8th is a planned ceremony at the Firefighters memorial
All CFD firehouses are open 24/7 for any needed services for residents. Feel free to stop in anytime
There were no more questions for Captain Kirby or CFD
Motion to approve August minutes: Rick Dieringer, Nicki Wiedeman 2nd. Motion to approve the minutes was passed unanimously

- Citybeat this week's "bike" issue is available
- Cincinnati not on bike-friendly community list
- 2nd Tuesdays at Arnold's at 6:30 all DRC residents welcome to Bike/PAC meetings
- www.queencitybike.com is a central clearinghouse for information
- Welcome input for upcoming bike route map, bike rack locations, etc
- City bike plan (last updated 1976), being updated per request from City Council
- Working on connecting Little Miami trail from Newtown to Downtown
- Bike station in new central Riverfront park (lockers, showers, etc) for commuters & recreational riders
- Artistic bike rack group/contest - focused on OTR, but if a downtowner wanted to get involved, this is welcome. Could be expanded to CBD
- Need volunteers to teach kids, adults
Questions:
- Construction on Riverside Drive - no bike lane - why?
- Right-of-way issues. Stemming from plan with insufficient room to fit roadway and sidewalk as well as a bike lane. Option to ride through park on bike path
Terry Honebrink from Cincinnati Ballet:

Mindy Rosen with Downtown Cincinnati Incorporated (DCI)
- About DCI:
- Non profit since 1994
- Ambassador program
- New Marketing campaign - funded by downtown businesses, DCI
- Targeting individuals & families 20 minute drive or less from downtown
- Newspaper, direct mail, radio spots
- So far good success in entertainment venues, mixed results in dining
- Survey - 90% will return within a month
- Mindy played one of the radio spots for meeting
- 10th Downtown Tour of Living is September 27th.
- DRC is a sponsor again this year
- Hoping for 2000 attendees
- Need volunteers

There is an upcoming 3CDC advisory board meeting coming up. Please let Conrad know of any concerns & suggestions to take to meeting. He will be representing the DRC

Social Committee:
- Linda Phillips: Banker's Club gathering was great success
- Oceanaire gathering 9/16 6pm to 8pm
- Ballet on 9/25
- 10/15 at Carteaux and Leslie 6pm to 8pm
- 11/6 at Havana Martini Club 6pm to 8pm
- 12/11 Cincinnati Art Gallery
- Solicited other suggestions for after-hours meetings (usually at Café Martin). Some suggestions were:
- City Cellars
- Quiz nite at Nicholson's
Treasurer: Chris Smith not present this month, will give report at the next meeting

- UC student going on mission to Africa. Will be on Fountain square Thursday evening raising funds for a hospice in Africa
