August 12, 2008 Member Meeting

Welcome and Introductions
Conrad called the meeting to order at 6pm. Self-introductions followed.
CPD Update: Capt. Theege, Lt Neudigate, Sergeant Dave D'Amico with mounted patrol -just promoted to DSU.
Questions:
- Trash collection late nights - is there an ordinance? Very loud. CPD will see what they can do. Also Christy Criddle with councilman Monzel's office will see about resolution.
UPDATES:
- Sgt D'Amico - gave riverfest street closure info. Sgt Greg Luten 352-1226 can provide parking passes in event planning unit.
- Downtown streets (7th street & south) will remain open except by US Bank arena this year
- Black Family Reunion coming this weekend.

370 runs in July from Engine 3, 293 were EMS runs, 35 were advanced life support.
765 inspections, 482 hydrant checks.
Questions:
- When are inspections coming to OTR? - could be up to 2 - 3 years.
Special Guests
Beth Collins w/ Cincinnati Scholarship Fdn.
- Since 1918, purpose is to keep kids in school in CPS. Pay stipend if students k-12 meet minimums. Also college scholarships. Needs-based from greater Cincinnati area. In, OH, KY. 1400 recipients this past year 1.6MM in $$.
- 90th anniversary gala on in October 9th at Music Hall. Passed out literature. www.cincinnatischolarshipfoundation.org.
- Can administer other scholarship funds (Anthony Munoz, Biggs, Breeden fund, etc).
Adoption of July Minutes: motion Eric Knapp 2nd by Barb Westendorf. Unanimously approved
UC Emergency dept and clinical research:
- Dr Jason McMullan, RN Irene Ewing.
- Research project on people having status epilepticus seizures.
- N.I.H sponsored study to have paramedics administer experimental meds upon responding to seizures.
- Bracelets are available to anyone who would like to opt out
Downtown Tour of Living:
- Jackie Reau, Arlene Koth presented DTL
- 9/27, Saturday is 10th DTL. Noon to 5pm
- Need volunteers - want 20 to 30 residents to volunteer as neighborhood ambassadors.

DRC political rules reminder:
no candidates will be allowed to campaign or speak at DRC meetings. OK to leave literature on outside table. Issues are ok - both sides will be invited.

Social Committee - Linda Phillips
- 7/31 was salsa on the square - 1st DRC "come as you are" social
- 8/14 is next DRC social at Bankers Club
- 9/16 is social at Oceanaire - with presentation about Oceanaire background
- Cincinnati Ballet DRC and OTR Chamber are 9/25 new works event hosts
- October - at Carteaux & Leslie
- November 6th
- December 11th Cincinnati Art Gallery on 6th St

NM mini mart liquor license issue is still going, no updates
