June 10, 2008 Member Meeting

Welcome and Introductions

Conrad Thiede called to order the March meeting at exactly 6:00 PM. Self-introductions of all in attendance followed.

Cincinnati Police Department / Downtown Services Unit (DSU) Report
The CPD was represented by Lt. Neudigate (Downtown Services Unit).
Lt Neudigate then provided the following updated information:
April crime statistics:
Thefts from autos are on the rise.
Residents are reminded to please keep your junk in your trunk. Also please remind coworkers and friends not to leave anything in sight in your vehicle
Other CPD updates:
The Naked Cowboy dancing at the Taste of Cincinnati was the primary attention getter for CPD. Overall, a good event without much trouble
Questions/concerns raised for Lt Neudigate:
There continue to be noise complaints near 7th & Walnut Streets originating from BlackFinn restaurant
No other concerns were noted.

Cincinnati Fire Department
CFD was represented and would like to remind residents that they are happy to do inspections for free. Call City Hall to request a fire inspection. 513-591-6000 is the number.
Other points of note:
Fire Department offering free smoke detectors and batteries for same while supplies last
Engine 3 makes approximately 330 runs a month
Rick Marshall asked how to deal with drunks on the street.
There were no questions or concerns raised by the group for the CFD.

NEW BUSINESS

Special Guest Presenters:
Josephine Kosmalski from Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth addressed residents about Foster Parenting

Christy Zerges announced special rates for Center City residents - $39.95 monthly membership fee

Tricia Spate reminded everyone about the Popular Library Show and Tell presentation coming up

Randy Sims from Vitality OTR spoke to the group

Rothenberg School Sommittee Voting, Fred Newman will serve on this committee representing downtown residents.

OLD/REGULAR BUSINESS: COMMITTEE UPDATES

Safe & Clean:
Liquor License update
No new liquor licenses have been issued in May or June in the CBD

Membership (Casey Gilmore, and Paul Westendorf)
DRC is looking to grow, please see Paul Westendorf with questions about joining.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The following announcements were noted:
Linda Phillips announced the upcoming DRC social at the Palm Court @ the Hilton on July 27th.

MOTION TO ADJOURN: A motion was made to adjourn by Barb Westendorf. It was seconded by Ben Wissel. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
